That compromises need to be made is no surprise. Every decision is a rationalization of numerous competing goals and restrictions. Size, budget, comfort, budget, appearance, budget, two peoples desires, budget, etc etc.
We built a beautiful air tight envelope but then needed to run power and switching all over it. To keep the wiring inside the envelope would have meant unsightly boxed chase would need to be built all over the place. With the wiring outside the envelope the appearance is not compromised, but we have to punch numerous holes in the envelope for electrical boxes. Adam feels we can effectively air seal these afterwards so this is the route we chose.
