The ground floor complete, day two with the whole raising crew is all about the main floors. This building has five distinct levels; the ground floor (slab), the sunken seating area, the indented covered deck, the main floor and the loft. A potential nightmare.
But with the CNC cut panels and the help of René, his very large sledge hammer and his timber comealong it all pulls together remarkably well.
First the sunken seating area:
We have been joined today by Martin Novack, head honcho at Novatop.
After the seating area we have to put in structural LVL beams to reduce the span of the floor panels.
These "element panel" floors are pre-made structural box panels, filled with insulation. They are also available with sound proofing but we decide we did not need that.
Now it is time to fly in the rest of the floor panels. Down below we can now see the form of the hallway, spare bedroom and bathroom, storage room and workshop. What was in my head is now on the ground.
