We now have most of the components for the structure of the building coming in from all directions.
From Italy, via Canada, we have two pallets and a few Fed Ex boxes of fasteners, epoxy, tapes and membranes.
From Germany, via Long Beach and Salt Lake City, we have a container load of Steico wood fiber insulation. This Adam (Palisades Builders) unloaded with his Telehandler this morning onto a piece of land he has rented as we have no space at the house site. Well covered with tarps we are hoping the weather and the varmints don't make mischief!
From the Czech Republic, via Seattle we have three container loads of the CLT panels, roof and floors. These went to Columbia Falls where Pat (WoodenHausSupply) is able to store them under cover until we truck them down here as needed.
Already here in Adam's yard are a container load of windows and external doors(Neuffer) which came from Germany via Oakland. Also a pallet of interior doors (Lebo) from Germany with the selling agent in Canada.
It turns out that to make a whole house, if you want modern efficient components, you need to involve half of Europe and a bit of Canada.

You are certainly building a "international" house. And I bet it will be one of most effecient homes in the area. Good on you two, can't wait to visit and see the progress. Looks like we will be heading your way this late june or early july on our way to Calgary for the Stampede and then on to the east coast if all goes as planned. Suzi gets her new knee this coming Monday so we will have to wait and see how the rehab goes but knowing her she'll be hiking around the hills of Laguna in a week or so. Well, probably not that soon but she is pretty motivated and has done a ton of conditioning getting ready for this so I suspect she'll beat the time frame they gi ve her for recovery. Can't wait to see the project and even more so we can't wait to see you two. See you soon - Dav id & Suzi
