The CLT panels have been manufactured in the Czech Republic by Novatop.
Here they are leaving the factory today to ship by road to Hamburg, sea to Seattle and then road to Montana.
It's nuts, right?
We spent months trying to find a U.S. supplier for CLT. It is made here in Montana and other parts of the west, but the companies had zero interest in talking to me about a single family residence. I am not certain their product is even up to the specifications needed for a house.
An opportunity missed. And further evidence that climate change denial in this country has lead to a lack of investment in businesses that could be selling value added products here to U.S. consumers.
